Houston Art Car Parade 2020
Downtown Houston at Allen Parkway & Pierce Elevated
Saturday, April 18
THE STARTING LINE PARTY 11AM
PARADE BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 2PM
Look for the HCC Art Car Cooperative ambulance. Directed by professor Ashley Hope, the 2020 entry is designed and made by students themed “Terra Firma." Showcasing the collaboration of many COEs in a cross-disciplinary project, HCC is in the process of designing and building an Art Car for the 2020 Art Car Parade of Houston. We are excited to have a full-size ambulance to transform into a mobile tribute to HCC’s dynamic community—thanks to the Public Safety, Transportation & Consumer Services COE and the folks at the Emergency Medical Services Division. The process has unfolded over three semesters, across many divisions here at HCC, with the Art Car completed by April 2020. The bulk of design and creative fabrication will happen in the IDEAStudio Makerspace at the West Houston Institute. The resulting show-piece statement (see the drawing) will demonstrate how relevant and promising HCC is as a school and member of the Houston community at large. Not only will it roll down triumphantly beside the Art Cars of Rice and UH, but it can prominently be displayed in front of all sorts of HCC events.
Powered by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art with help from our sponsors, the Houston Art Car Parade promotes the freedom of creative expression and the "drive to create," and is FREE to attend for anyone and everyone interested in celebrating this unique type of art.
