About the Course

Learn how to design your own graphics using Inkscape, a free and open source vector graphics editor. This is a hands-on course where you will develop your skills through working on practical projects, including making a logo, creating custom artwork, and designing a poster. You will learn the basics of vector design as well as how to prepare your designs for a variety of digital fabrication methods, including laser cutting, vinyl and desktop cutting, and CNC machining.

This course is taught by West Houston Institute IDEAStudio staff and is being offered free of charge to Houston Community College students, faculty, and staff this semester. The format for this course is online anytime. That means that once your registration is processed, you will be given access to the web-based course in HCC's Eagle Online learning platform. You can work through the course modules and complete the final creative project at your own pace. You will have until the end of the course session to complete all assigned work. Although the course is virtual, your instructor will be available to answer questions and support you through the activities. All participants who complete the course will have the opportunity to have their final project laser vinyl cut for them at IDEAStudio!
